The round HyDrive brush is mainly used on larger, relatively flat surfaces, such as conveyor belts, worktables, machine components, walls and floors. For hard-to-reach areas, such as pipes, valves, couplings, threads and recesses, the HyDrive adapter can be combined with suitable Vikan brushes with threaded connections.

The Vikan HyDrive range includes a round brush and an adapter for use with compatible Vikan brushes.

Vikan 8700 HyDrive Brush

The Vikan 8700 HyDrive is a round brush with a diameter of 90 mm and very stiff PBT bristles measuring 25 mm in length. The integrated 6 mm hex bit allows the brush to be attached directly to a cordless drill or pneumatic tool. The brush is suitable for wet and dry cleaning and has a maximum rotational speed of 1,800 rpm.

Vikan 87509 HyDrive Adapter

The Vikan 87509 HyDrive adapter allows you to use compatible Vikan brushes with threaded connections. It features a 6 mm hex bit for attachment to the powered tool, while the other end has a threaded connection for fitting suitable Vikan brushes. Vikan recommends several tube brushes for this purpose, allowing you to clean pipes and other hard-to-reach parts of machinery and equipment using powered tools.

Both HyDrive products are suitable for food contact. The round brush and adapter comply with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on food contact materials and Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on Good Manufacturing Practice. The round brush is available in six colours, making it suitable for colour coding.

Safe Use of Vikan HyDrive

When using Vikan HyDrive, follow these precautions:

• Remove the battery or disconnect the air supply from pneumatic tools before fitting the brush or adapter.
• Secure the brush or adapter firmly in the drill chuck.
• Test the brush at low speed for 30 to 60 seconds and check that it is properly balanced.
• Start at a low speed and gradually increase the rotational speed.
• Never exceed the maximum rotational speed of 1,800 rpm.
• Do not use HyDrive with tools that have a hammer action.
• Avoid applying excessive pressure and let the brush do the work.
• Do not use damaged or unbalanced brushes, and check for loose bristles.

Carry out a risk assessment before use and follow the safety instructions for the power tool and cleaning agents being used. Wear appropriate PPE, such as gloves, eye or face protection and safety footwear. Use hearing and respiratory protection and close-fitting protective clothing where necessary.

Can I use Vikan HyDrive with any cordless drill?

Not every cordless drill is suitable. The HyDrive brush and adapter have a 6 mm hex bit that must fit securely in the drill chuck. Do not use the hammer function and never exceed the maximum rotational speed of 1,800 rpm.

Which Vikan brushes are compatible with the HyDrive adapter?
